Sharing

I have often been accused of not sharing and I have to tell you that I quite resent that accusation. I do share, I just don't share certain things, blame it on the "youngest child" syndrome where I've had to share practically everything all my life.

So here I am - sharing myself through this blog.

I'll start off with a list of things that I will not share -

1. Food - I have to start off by saying that I love food, I love everything about it, how you make it, the things you can buy to make it, the history of it. I try to eat whenever and whatever I can, I will try anything at least once. I love swapping favourite recipes, restaurants, hard-to-find-places for ingredients... Having said all that, these are the instances that I will not share my food. If we go to a restaurant and I ask whether you would like to share something and you say, "No" and when we get our food and I offer again and your answer is negative, please for God's sake, don't stick your fork in my plate. I will not look favourably upon you for it.

2. My favourite brown bowl - For some reason, I have this weird attachment to this vintage bowl that has been in my family for as long as I can remember. I think we used to own several but now there is just the one. There is nothing remarkable about this bowl. It's earthenware with a chocolate glaze and the perfect size for Asian noodle soup. I will not ever let any of my brothers or even parents use it if it's available. I have been known to pour contents of it out to another bowl if I notice any of my siblings eating from it. I have nightmares that it will break one day and I will have to spend years on eBay trying to find its replacement.

3. Books - Once again, it just really depends on the situation. I will willingly lend you any book of mine if you pass my book test. It usually goes something like this - Are you passionate about reading? Do you own at least 50 books? Do you cry when you see a perfectly good book with a bent spine? If you answer yes to all these questions, you are always welcome to my library. There is nothing worse then lending someone your favourite book only to get it back with bent pages, coffee stains etc. I would rather spend the money buying you your own copy.

4. Favourite accessory stores - I love jewellery especially vintage or vintage inspired ones, I own quite a collection and my boyfriend jokingly says we will one day need a jewellery condo for mine to live in. If you ever see something that you love on me and ask me where I got it from, I will lie to you with a straight face and tell you that it's either an heirloom or from eBay. I will never tell you what store I got it from. I just don't like it when people wear the same jewelry as me. This of course, does not apply to close friends. They get to know whatever the hell they want to know.

5. My Ipod - you just can't share this. It's like sharing underwear (which you absolutely don't do unless you're a little loco). Period.

And now you know, so if you ever meet me you'll know to avoid asking me to share any of the above.
