Bashful Pooper

Saturday, February 12, 2005

So, as you all know I am in Vancouver this week. I've been thinking a lot about road trips and how people who work in industries that require it, are quite the special breed. And I am by no means saying that we are superior or special in any way, just that it definitely takes a certain personality to not go mad during these times. But that is not what this entry is about.

I was thinking about a particular friend who travels with her boss who is a guy, and they share a room whenever they have to go on the road. They have a plutonic and very easy relationship with one another but I always wonder how it must be so hard to share a space with someone especially when one needs to take a poop.

You see, I am a shy pooper. I have problems doing it when I know someone else is in the same room. I mean, I think it took me almost two years into the relationship before I could even go when Stefan was in the apartment. Luckily for me, during the weekends when I would stay over, I had a girlfriend who worked nearby his apartment during our courting years; as I would pretend to go out for coffee and then get it over with before returning. Either that, or I would just be constipated all weekend.

Anyways, I am slowly getting over my poopy aversion but I still think it would be hard to have to go when your boss is around, especially if he was a guy. I would insist on a room with a loud fan. The weird thing is, guys never think this way, do they? They just poop randomly, whenever and wherever they feel like it.

au contraire...I as a man, do certainly think this way. I also am a traveling salesman. So pooping is very important.

I used to hold it until I could get home. But, I have found ways to not get all constipated...hotels have the best and cleanest bathrooms, even if you are not staying there.

Since having kids and a wife, my poops have become less private, in a big way. I also worked in the woods for a long time, and have learned to enjoy a good poop in the woods. But, I need a seat and toliet paper, pooping into a hole is always a chore.

Well...I could go on forever...

i agree that hole pooping is always not a fun experience and a situation one must try to avoid at all costs.

you must be an unusual man for once in Australia, on a camping trip, i had to endure 10 guys versions of what/how/when/why was the best poop ever taken outdoors...
