Airline A.D.D

Thursday, March 17, 2005

You know the carry on bags that people have? I am not really sure what other people use them for but I use them to counter my oft-mentioned A.D.D. (I am sure people with actual diagnosed A.D.D must hate me)

I've been unpacking my bags from Edmonton, (Stef keeps on calling me "roomie" cos I've been away so much)and it always never fails to amaze me how much shit I pack in case I encounter boredom on the plane. I usually leave with the following - ipod (absolute must!), at least 2 books (one dumb read, one serious read, cos you never know what you feel like), 2 magazines (one fashion, one random, usually interior design) and a notebook (to write my random thoughts, of course!)

I then return with the following - ipod (I would have a HEART ATTACk if this didn't make it on the plane), 5-6 books (2 from original packing, 3 to 4 from purchases because I simply cannot walk by a bookstore in a different city without buying a new book. I usually only end up reading one of the books I bring, the dumb one because really, who wants to read serious stuff on the plane?), 4-6 magazines (usually the original two and then I can never seem to resist the trashy gossip reads that call your name for $2.99, then also I always seem to travel when all the new magazines drop and of course, I can't just wait to buy them at home, I need to buy them NOW! It's all about instant gratification) and my notebook.

I will come back comeplaining how much my shoulders hurt from all the crap I've decided to pick up along the way but the very next trip, there I am repeating the same vicious cycle.
