Things That Happen....
Thursday, April 7, 2005
There are things that can happen when you tend to travel a lot for your work, these are some of the things that can apply - (a) you could be a complete pig when you come home because all you to do is to toss your discarded clothing around (b) you could come to the realization that it really isn't any point that you signed your donor card as you're really slowly turning into an alcoholic and your liver dooesn't mean shit in the long term of things, (c) you could spend a lot of money that you don't really have on things you don't really need but really, really want, (d) you could have some of the most amazing meals in the world and still realize that your mama's is always gonna be way better than anyone else's, (e) you could realize that no matter where you go or how fun it is, that you will always want to be in your own bed, next to your lover and be able to call your friends at random times or (f) all of the above.
This last trip to New York has been a doozy, non-stop filled week that has been extended by some key people from the Head Office coming in. Hence the reason why I have not written in this for such a long time. However, it was also tremendously fun and I am glad that even though I haven't been able to talk so much about it, that I did get to experience all the things I did nonetheless.
I arrived on Saturday, three hours later than scheduled due to the horrendous weather we'd been experiencing lately. My brother Kenny, anticipating that not much could be done on a rainy weekend had had the smart idea to book "other activities" - one of them, being the highlight of my trip, a scavenger hunt in the Museum of Natural History.

I had never been there before and it really was such a tremendous treat! Nothing better than learning about stuff that you have never really known before but for anyone who is planning to do it, I highly recommend wearing runners as we were speeding all around the museum like mad animals, trying not to run down the young families who had taken refuge from the rain. We came in second, but no prize for not making it first.
Then we went to a restaurant called Chummies, (I think) and it was a prohobition era bar/restaurant that hadn't changed since the good old days. The decor had remained exactly the same and the food was really good, but the best thing of all was being able to sit next to the fireplace. We then went to a bar where all the waitstaff had tremendous voices and then would sing as they served. We then went to a club and got silly! And people, that all took place in just one day!
Only in New York! But I must say, I am glad to be home, if only Stef was home too!
