Gossip Blurps

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

I sometimes wish I could write a gossip column. I know I shouldn't be so fascinated by something so insipid and worthless such as celebrity watching but I really can't help it. Who's funding those In Touch mags? It's me, baby... oh well. Anyways, here is what is happening in the gossip world that I know of and what I think.

Rob and AmberFirst off, I have to say Stef is a saint only because I made him watch snippets of Rob and Amber's wedding last night. It was a pretty boring affair and I think they were trying too hard to show tension or controversy BUT I have to say that the actual wedding was heads and tails over the other reality-too-much-fucking-pink affair of Trista and Ryan's. The point is, if you're gonna get married, use Oprah's guy!

Nicole and LindsaySupposedly, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan are the new uber pair of friends, for which I am very glad. I don't know about you but Paris is really getting super annoying especially with her over-exposure. Who really gives a crap about what's-her-name-daughter-of-Rod Stewart? I always thought Nicole had way more interesting personal style. Plus, she seems like she sometimes has a brain. But Lindsay! What is up with being blonde and skeletal? One of the few reasons why Lindsay Lohan truly was as cool as she was, in my eyes, was the red hair and the screen goddess bod. Bring the old Lindsay back!

Tom and KatieDoes anyone else find this whole coupling just plain weird and somewhat pedophile-ish? He was being all gushy and telling Oprah how he's never felt this way before. I am sure all his previous wives and girlfriends feel just absolutely warm and fuzzy over that statement. And Katie has been quoted saying something about how when she was little she would have dreams about marrying him and now she's glad that she dreamt big. Hello? There is something SO WRONG about that! I still feel it's all a celebrity stunt or the guy just ran out of expensive toys to buy for his middle age crisis.

Brad and AngelinaI am not a big movie going fan — I like renting movies unless it's a movie featured in the film festival — but I am tempted to go see Mr and Mrs Smith just to see what the whole hoopla is about. The news still hasn't died down over these two and it won't for a long time I think. I just think that Jen and Brad's marriage must have had some cracks before this whole thing came down and people just won't accept it because they seem like this amazing, untouchable couple. I must say, for my own, I never thought Jennifer Aniston was as bright a star as Brad was. It's like a seven dating a ten, you know what I mean? And it must be sucky to be the seven. (I feel so MEAN especially since I heard she's a tremendously kind and generous spirit.)

Vanity Fair coverAngelina Jolie is just a star onto her own. I mean did you check out the pictures of her in Vanity Fair? The woman is a GODDESS. I am a little sad that everyone has simply forgotten about all the good that she does — she now carries the label of "homewrecker." She does so much to bring the plight of children in war zones to the forefront of news and I think that she is the only celebrity that donates more than half her income to the causes she believes in. I would like to think that people would pay more attention to that than to her suppossed affair with Brad Pitt. And really, even if they were having an affair, who can blame them? If I were them, I would screw the other too.

I apologize to the West Coast people who haven't yet had a chance to watch it but Carrie won the American Idol title. I thought she was so-so and a bit of a cop-out choice but then again, it wasn't me voting. I am sure both parties will have a piece of the pie nonetheless.

Last but not least, to fellow slurpee lovers, DON'T try the Raspberry Lite flavour. It tastes like caca cough syrup with the poppy carbon stuff. Eck!
