Truths About Ken
Friday, July 15, 2005
Ken and I have been having a very fun time hanging out. It's been so long that I seem to have forgotten how bloody funny he can be at times. Also, realizing that when you're close to family, you can just say absolutely nothing and it never gets uncomfortable.
We were driving around a lot today as I insisted on going to Woodbury Commons also known as "Shopper's Paradise." I was supposed to be his navigator but I am really bad at that stuff because I don't pay attention and usually am reading. I guess it's because I've been so used to Stefan always taking charge of driving stuff that I don't bother.
We're good shoppers together in the fact that we tend to like the same things but also know when we just want to shop by ourselves and leave each other alone. I didn't do too much damage this time around and I did get some good deals on shoes which always makes me happy.
I also managed to find out some new truths about Ken this trip -
1. His snoring is quite tolerable if you drink enough before bed. That way you are in a pseudo drunken stupor and don't wake up until morning.
2. He still eats like a bottomless pit. Scarily enough, he still eats way more than I do and still is the size of my pinky.
3. He is a total random car talker. He kept on making the most outrageous comments about other drivers while we were driving about.
4. He will still spend more money on home stuff than he will on clothes stuff.
5. Over the years, he's started to look more like my dad, have the same perfinicky gestures of my mum, have my Amah's irreverant wit and incredible fussiness and to top it all off, he grunts like my kong kong (granddad). It's a very bewildering sight to behold when you actually know all the people I'm talking about.
Funny how genetics work like that.
