Call A Spade, A Spade Already. Period.

I am a big fan of plain speaking. I just think that we tend to spend so much time trying to come up with euphemisms for things when we should just say what we think, then we can avoid the whole "broken telephone" problem.
A perfect example of how plain speaking can help clarify things. When I was in NY for meetings, during lunch the guys were laughing at the fact that something was named "Fanny" and how it was so rude, not realizing that another girl and I were quietly eavesdropping.
Girl, "I don't get it. Doesn't "fanny" just mean butt?"
Boy (Gulping and stammering), "Eeerrrr....it can also mean something else, a little dirtier."
Girl, "Well, what does it mean?"
Boy, "It means a woman's.....err...blossom"
Girl, "Huh?"
Boy, "It....eer...you know means a woman's flower"
She turns around and looks at me, "Do you know what they're talking about?"
Me, "He's talking about pussy."
Girl, "Oh. OK."
The boys were so shocked that I said the "P" word. It's not that I said the "C" word. Don't people already know that it's always the quiet ones that will always surprise you?
Anyways, one of my cousins calls her period "Aunty Susan" and I really can't understand why. It'll just confuse all the boys you want to (a) get out of your way or (b) get you whatever you want or (c) just leave you the hell alone. I have never gotten into calling my period something it's not.
It may shock the general boy population when I generally proclaim that I have my period and am feeling bloaty but so what? Boys should really get over the whole thing already. I am so glad that Stefan doesn't even bat an eyelash when I declare that it's my time of the month. He just gives me breathing room and never eats the last scoop of chocolate ice cream during this time.
That way we both know what we're dealing with. And life is just much more peaceful that way.
