Dissecting Anatomy

Phew! Whenever I think I am crazy, Dooce always makes me feel like I am a perfectly normal person. I just read her latest entry. Like her, I am completely obsessed with Grey's Anatomy. After all, what's not to love? Sharp, witty dialogue, explorations of the heart, a little(a lot of) drama and great humour. I eagerly await my Sunday nights with spine tingling anticipation.

I still have issues with Meredith, the main character. I much prefer Satan but my favourite is Christina Yang. After all, Sandra Oh is a hometown girl. I love that she plays this hard person who obviously loves and is good at her work. However, she has trouble functioning as a normal, emotive person outside of that. It reminds me of me in the good old days when I never used to cry and when I did, it would be like Christina's breakdown last episode. People would flee out of sheer confusion. Not anymore, I cry at tissue commercials. I blame it all on the "quarter century" change of age.

I think I don't like Meredith because she's too sweet. That, and she looks too old to be an intern. I think it's because she's too skinny and her skin is a little wrinkly from the non-fat and dehydration. And why is her hair always down? I have never seen that at a real hospital.

I think I don't like Meredith because I myself am not really a sweet person. Tina, my girlfriend, on the other hand loves Meredith. If you ever met Tina, you'd know why. Because Tina is a sweet girl like Meredith. Tina is like an Asian Snow White, wrapped up in a pretty bow. That's the beauty of the show. With such varied and interesting characters, you can always find something or someone you can relate to.

Stefan thinks I am nuts, because I will call Marie on the West Coast in between commercials to remind her to watch the show. As if she wouldn't. Then all I can think about on the Monday is when is a decent time to call her to discuss the show. Now that I know Tina watches the show, and since she works with Marie, I'll have to schedule my Monday musings until they are both at work. At which time, I am sure I will get a very severe scolding from their boss.

So, do you think Burke and Yang will get back together?

Is Grey's Anat really great? I have heard it is. And if it's at all like Felicity (which I still watch re-runs today and consider buying the dvd's) I am missing out. Skating Sunday nights just doesn't cut it for being a Tv Drama Queen.
