Stefan: Please don't be mad.
Me: What happened?
Stefan: They only had one car left at the rental place.
Me: NO!!! Don't tell me...
Stefan: I'm sorry! I asked four times.
Me: Oh My God! I'll take anything else. A minivan, anything....

Later on that day.

Me: You'll never guess what the rental agency rented me. I was so embarrassed to drive it around.
Marie: PT Cruiser?
Me: How did you know?

At night...

Me: I'll give you a ride. I rented a car... it's ugly though...
Rachelle: PT Cruiser?

Yes, people, the PT Cruiser is recognizably one of the ugliest cars to drive around. I am always so embarrassed whenever we get stuck with it at rental agency. At first, I loved the idea of it as I am in love with all things vintage. Somehow the design didn't come out as expected and it has been much malligned ever since. I have to admit that it is a pretty easy car to drive. I do have to say though that the back window is really small which makes it really hard to parallel park. You know how annoying this can be especially in Toronto, the city of only parallel parking.

I think another reason for my embarassment is that the local "gentlemen's club" has one with their logo emblazoned all over it. I just can't help associating the PT Cruiser with strippers.

So far, the only person I know who really likes this car is my mama. Once, I had to pick her up in a gold, PT Cruiser. A PT Cruiser by itself is bad enough, BUT a gold one! I could have just died. I was muttering under my breathe about how awkward it was to drive my mama around in the pimpin' car. My mother just replied (in her Chinese accent),"I like this pimping car...... what's a pimp?"

And that was that.
