My New Toy

Oh man! So, super lucky me....I totally scored on this marketing campaign. They hooked me up with a phone, an extra memory card (to take videos on my phone!), a bluetooth headset (good for my road trips) and earphones for the phone (because it also plays mp3 and videos!) It's very exciting.
Note to everyone out there, don't just read the five pages of the manual to set it up. Because basically that's what I did. There are supposed to be tons of functions but I haven't really tested them all out yet because I usually just like to press random buttons to figure stuff out. You'd probably figure it out way faster if you read the manual, unlike myself.
In some ways, I think I might be a biased reviewer since I am a natural Nokia baby. I've had a Samsung (sucky), a Motorola (sucked backside big time), Palm Treo (it was ok) and a Blackberry (the bomb! only from the emailing point). The last two were a necessity provided by a previous job and while it was great to keep in touch on the road, I really hated being connnected to people all the time. I could never escape work. The rest of my phones have been Nokias. I don't know a lot about the gadget-technology stuff. All I know is that with Nokia phones I always get really clear reception, no weird echos back and it just works. So, why switch to something that doesn't?
From the limited amount of usage that I've had, here is what I have to say about the new Nokia 6682. I really like the size, it's not as big as a Blackberry or Palm Treo but it sits nicely in your palm. I am always losing my tiny phone in my cavernous bags.
There are definitely better camera features on this one and, of course, the main pictures I've been taking have been Mindy and Stefan. I am still playing with all the functions. The one thing that I really don't like is the texting function but I think that's because I've been quite spoiled by my Nokia 6820. It flips open into a keyboard and makes texting idiot proof. Since I text a lot, especially when I travel, I might switch to my old phone when I am in another city.
My favourite part though is the voice activated dialing. I know other phones do this as well but it's usually a little weird and awkward to use. This is not a completely perfected technology either. You have to say the name of the person you're calling exactly the way you recorded it, but actually using it is pretty easy (just one tiny button on the side) and it's super fun. Yesterday I said," Stupid" and it called my oldest brother Kenny in New York. I told him what I did and he said, "What a bitch!" We both laughed for 10 minutes and hung up. I think he wants one now.
It's the little things that make me happy.
