Cold Brings Craft

Unfortunately due to Stef's surgery, the onslaught of unexpected pukiness and pain, we had to forgo the pimp and ho day and chill at home instead. Well, at least Stefan chilled out while I ran around doing his bidding. It was actually nice to be the caretaker since he's the one who usually takes care of me regardless of whether I am ill or not.

BUT what is it about men that turns them into utter babies when they are just a tiny bit off? "Juice! Water! Ginger Ale!" was often called out in the saddest little boy voice from our couch. You would think I was torturing the guy. The funny thing is that I think Mindy sensed something was wrong with Stefan. And even though she's not usually cuddly with him, she spent most of her time lying next to him and licking the one visible digit from his cast. It was really sweet actually.

It was finally cold this weekend and the nice thing about not going out, was hanging out and being able to knit. I've just realized that it's nearly November and I still have quite a number of gifts to finish before Christmas. Stefan has a love hate relationship with my knitting. On the one hand, it's the only thing that will keep me still for a couple of hours straight but on the other hand, I always tend to get really expensive yarn. I don't think he realizes that when I am at the wool store, that it's all about visual and touch and I usually don't know how much it costs until I am at the counter to pay.

"Do the sheep get spa treatments? And is this for another scarf?" he usually wonders aloud when I return with a look of semi-embarrassment on my face. Yes, I only know how to knit scarves but at least I've been playing around with different stitches and even cabling a little.

This weekend I forayed into circular knitting. I've been reading a lot about them on other people's blogs and wondered whether it really made such a difference. So when I went to the counter, I asked them to recommend some. They went through all the pros and cons of the different types and I opted for the Addi Turbo nickle plated ones.

Did you KNOW about these? They're amazing! I am so speedy with them and I seriously think that I may never go back to straight needle knitting ever again. Unfortunately at $20 a pair, I will have to wait to expand my needle collection.
