The Ridiculousness of Cats

I know, I know. Another crazy cat lady post.
Listen, I don't think anyone realizes I grew up with DOGS all my life and Mindy is my very first cat. I am constantly amazed and fascinated by cat behaviour. And I hope dog people don't start spamming and hating on me (as I still plan to have a dog at some point in my life) but dogs seem like the much easier pet to understand in comparison. With dogs, they love you, you take them for walks, they let you do ridiculous things to them and they STILL love you. With cats, it's another ball game. You find yourself constantly trying to make them think you're a cool enough being for them to chill with you.
Anyway, today Mindy was hiding underneath the bed when I woke up. If you know Miss Fatty McFatness, the moment you stir from bed, she's usually begging for food. There is actually no need to have an alarm clock with Miss Mindy around. She routinely rouses us at around 7 am during the weekdays and 10 am on weekends. No lie, she actually knows when weekends are. Long weekends just throw her off.
Being an older cat, I always freak out when she's acting funny and hiding. Especially around meal times. What cat hides when they're about to be fed? Because from many tales, cats hide when they're not feeling themselves or when they've decided to go off and die.
Needless to say, it freaks me out when she hides and does not come out during meal times. Today, no avail of cajoling would make her leave the end of the bottom of the bed. She did a reconnaissance pee while I was checking on email and all I heard was a thundering of feet and a blue streak running past by me; zip back under the bed. I went to work all worried today so I made Stefan go home for lunch to check up on her.
She was still hiding under the bed and once again, cajoling and pleading ensued but to no avail. And on one of her sneak pees and her attempt at running back, he managed to grab her. Turns out she had a piece of poop stuck at the end of her bum and some on her bum hair. Like me, she has poop issues too. Again no lie, the cat does not like to be smelly. But with her, she's so fastidious with her cleanliness that Stefan thinks that she was too embarrassed by herself to let us see her. After he cleaned her up and brushed her, she was totally fine.
Don't tell me that you don't find that ridiculous too.

The very same has happend once or twice to my Omar and he, naturally, finds it most humiliating.
see you, g
That is what makes cats so adorable - they have these quirky personalities.
The cat is much like every gay boy I know. Well, the proper ones anyway.
Awwwww... You have such a sweet kitty. The thing about cats is that every one is different. Right now, Flora is proving to us that cats can even have puppy-like personalities! She's got that cuddly unconditional love thing going on, and even likes playing fetch! Maeby on the other hand is still her complex, aloof, feline self.
Cats do hide when they're sick, but sometimes they just hide because they're cats. My kitties love finding small spaces they can cram themselves into. This is why I bought them an Ikea kitty tent: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beth_maher/354936909/in/set-72157602857682409/
Gracia - Nice to know that Mindy isn't the only one who does this...
Grace - I know! That is why I am so enjoying being a kitty owner right now.
Ken = You're so gross. As always. TMI!!
Beth - SO CUTE! I was so close to buying that for Mindy as well but Stefan didn't like the way it looked with our contemporary modern decor...That and if he let me buy her that one thing, I would go crazy and buy her all these other crazy things that we don't need...
