Week 28

Woah! Time has flown...I cannot believe that it's week 28...12 more weeks to go and baby will be here. As you can see, I've grown quite a bit more than the last time I posted a picture of my belly.

My belly button is finally popping out and boy, is the center of it ever white! I guess it makes sense since it's never seen the light of day. There's an ongoing joke between Stefan and myself because for some reason, my belly button is ridiculously deep. He's convinced that when the belly button finally does pop, it will reveal new ecosystems!

BiB is so active now, it's unbelievable. I think he/she has inherited Stefan's athletic genes and is constantly kicking and punching. But now, I can feel limbs actually move across my stomach. The little alien in the belly is definitely growing! Its new game is that it will repeatedly kick me in the exact same spot for about 3 hours straight and will only pause when Stefan tells him/her to behave him/herself.

I have a very slight linea nigra, which Stefan is very fascinated by. Actually, he keeps on asking when it's going to go away... because my linea nigra is slightly crooked and the anal retentive in him just can't deal with it. We've started reading to the baby and when I say "we", I really mean Stefan. It's their way of having bonding time together. I think the baby recognizes his voice, but I can't be sure.

Yesterday was a momentous day in my pregnancy! I finally had to cave in and buy my first (and hopefully only) piece of maternity clothing - a pair of dress pants on sale. I don't know why it's not possible to make chic maternity clothing that is affordable and doesn't look cheap. The only clothing that I have seen that look remotely decent are more than I am willing to pay for. I would rather save my money to buy fun apres-pregnancy clothing. I also had to invest in new bras, thank goodness everything was on sale.

Stefan got me a sewing machine for Christmas (something I've been wanting for awhile) and this was my first project! The internet really is a miraculous thing as there are so many people out there willing to share their methods on making things. I got the pattern for the fitted crib sheet and tips to make it from various blogs and sites. This project went relatively quickly after a few slight bumps and the second sheet was made in less than an hour.

I forgot how much satisfaction one gets when you're making things with your own hands. That and like everything else, I am starting to quickly realize that both Stefan and I (I always thought it was just Stef) are so particular about everything, especially when it comes to how things look. After much searching online and in stores for baby decor & accessories, we have decided to forgo most, if not all of it and just get things that we personally like ourselves. So needless to say, currently BiB's room is very "non-baby."

With our luck, our child will grow up loving Disney-esque decor and we will both cry very bitter tears...

What a sweet sheet, looking forward to seeing more of your creations.

Good on ya for getting organised. I think you have nicer maternity clothes in Toronto than Malaysia or Singapore (during the time when I was pregnant) because most of the maternity clothes were mainly big dresses with a string tie back - very "Ah Soh." Looking forward to seeing how your nursery evolves, love the colour of the sheet you made. Apartment Therapy has some wonderful examples of very chic nurseries too.
